Z. Burak Mercan, General Manager of Altınay Defense Technologies, evaluated the company’s financial performance, growth plans, and international expansion strategy on the “Para Ekranı” program hosted by Şafak Tükle on CNBC-e.
Growth in Sales and New Targets for 2026
Mercan stated that Altınay Defense has maintained a consistent commercial growth trend over the past five years, reaching total sales of USD 79.5 million in 2025, representing an approximate 36% increase compared to the previous year. He added that the company aims to exceed USD 100 million in sales by the end of 2026.
R&D and Product Development Focus
Emphasizing that Altınay Defense is a technology-driven company, Mercan highlighted that R&D and production activities form the core of its operations. In 2025, the company signed several R&D projects with the Presidency of Defense Industries and companies under the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.
These projects include the development of aerial fire detection and suppression systems, as well as power packages for underwater platforms. Mercan also noted that previously developed and fielded systems enable the company to respond more rapidly to new demands.
Order Backlog Exceeds USD 200 Million
Providing insights into the company’s business volume, Mercan stated that the order backlog, which stood at USD 182 million at the end of 2025, has surpassed USD 200 million as of April 2026. He added that this figure is expected to reach USD 300 million within the year.
He also noted that the 2025 backlog was achieved from an approximate USD 650 million proposal pipeline, and that this pipeline is expected to approach USD 1 billion in 2026.
Capacity Expansion and New Facilities
Addressing increasing demand, Mercan stated that capacity expansion remains a key priority. He noted that a new engineering center in Tuzla is nearing completion, while facility investments in Ankara are ongoing. Additionally, efforts are underway to further expand capacity at the existing production facility in Dilovası.
Global Expansion and New Partnerships
The program also addressed Altınay Defense’s international expansion efforts. Mercan stated that the company continues to develop collaborations particularly in the United States and Europe, with these efforts ongoing for approximately 1.5 years.
Highlighting the rapid growth of the global defense market, Mercan emphasized that Altınay Defense aims to increase its share in this expanding landscape.
