Altınay Defense Technologies has once again been recognized for its vision of developing environmentally friendly and sustainable technologies. The company’s “Wastewater Treatment System” patent received a Silver Medal at the International Invention Competition – ISIF'24.
A Strong Contribution to Sustainable Defense Technologies
This innovative system, for which a patent application was submitted, was developed specifically for use on mobile platforms. Designed to efficiently remove TNT and similar energetic/toxic substances suspended in wastewater, the system stands out with its ability to offer local and mobile treatment solutions in regions lacking water treatment infrastructure.
This prestigious award highlights Altınay Defense’s pioneering efforts not only in the defense sector—especially in addressing the urgent clean water needs of personnel in the field—but also in promoting environmental sustainability.
Mobile Purification with Innovative Engineering
Unlike conventional filtration systems, the wastewater treatment solution was engineered to operate efficiently within the dimensions of a standard shipping container. Its most distinctive feature is a high-capacity sand filter, positioned after the flocculation (coagulation) phase, which effectively captures TNT and similar residues from the water.
Key technical advantages of the system include:
- A filter cloth-covered sand bed for easy removal of TNT filter cake
- A centrally located inlet pipe to enhance filtration efficiency and balance particle distribution
- Adjustable inlet height, allowing compatibility with different flow scenarios
- A visual warning mechanism that notifies the operator when the filter nears capacity
Thanks to these features, the system is suitable not only for military applications but also as a mobile solution in disaster zones or regions with limited infrastructure.
